How construction courses may be funded
In England, many funded construction aims sit within the Adult Skills Fund system, including Free Courses for Jobs for eligible adults on the relevant qualification lists.
According to ASF rules, Free Courses for Jobs covers some Level 2 construction qualifications alongside Level 3 construction-related aims for eligible learners. For 2026 to 2027 the offer also extends to some Level 2 engineering and manufacturing qualifications.
From August 2026, providers may also be able to fund the CSCS card application and the associated health and safety test for some eligible Level 2 or Level 3 construction qualifications. This is not automatic for every course, so a training provider confirms whether it applies to the qualification you choose.
Who may qualify
Patterns include unemployed adults, adults below the earnings threshold, and adults aged 19 to 23 without a first full Level 3 on approved lists. For 2026 to 2027, central ASF rules cite £26,800 gross annual salary for many low-wage routes, but providers verify income and local devolved rules can differ.
Prior qualifications matter. The provider applies current rules for each learning aim.
